What the Three Models Mean in Aluminum Windows
In façade fabrication the three models are usually distinguished by who owns the design rather than by price alone.
- OEM — you supply the drawing, schedule or sample, and the fabricated product is delivered under your brand.
- ODM — you select from an existing certified system range and we adapt dimensions, glazing, hardware, finish and packaging to your project.
- Custom fabrication — a new opening type, a new mullion detail or a non-standard interface is engineered from your brief, drawing or physical sample.
OEM: You Supply the Drawing, We Fabricate
OEM is the right model when the project already has a design authority — an architect, a façade consultant or your own engineering team. The system, section dimensions, glazing build-up, hardware schedule and finish are all defined before the enquiry goes out.
What the fabricator contributes is manufacturing discipline: cutting, thermal break assembly, machining and hardware installation held to the specified tolerances, plus the units delivered as complete, glazed and ready to install. The advantage is a precise match to the specification. The trade-off is that every change after drawing approval has to be re-approved, so the drawing set needs to be genuinely frozen before production is scheduled.
ODM: Start From a Certified System Range
ODM starts from systems that are already designed, tested and certified. Our range covers window systems, door systems, lift-slide and tilt-slide sliding systems, and façade and curtain wall systems — the full set of opening types an architectural project normally needs.
Customization under ODM is real but bounded, and that is its strength. Dimensions, glazing, hardware, finish and packaging can all be adapted, while the structural performance and test evidence of the base system are already established. Custom Fabrication: A New Opening or a New Detail
Custom fabrication applies when nothing in the standard range fits — a large skylight sash, an unusual corner condition, a bespoke screen arrangement, or an interface to structure that was not designed for a standard frame. This model works from whatever the project has available: a full drawing set, a sketch with critical dimensions, or a physical sample.
The engineering step is longer because the section has to be checked for thermal performance and the hardware has to be verified against the sash weight, and the first output is normally a sample rather than a production run. For a large skylight or an oversized sliding panel, that sample stage is where the real risk gets retired.

Samples are available in all three models. In practice they take 10 to 30 days depending on complexity, with the upper end of that range belonging to custom details. Packaging is customizable in all three: neutral or custom logo packaging is available on request, so branding should not be the reason for choosing one model over another.
